چکیده

We present a case study of scanning 3D objects for the purposes of education and public information. We begin by describing the original design of a 3D scanning system now in use in Cairo’s Egyptian Museum. The system captures both the geometry and surface color and detail of museum artifacts. We report on the experience using the system in the museum setting, and how practical problems with the system were addressed. We present samples of how the processed 3D data will be used on a web site designed to communicate Egyptian culture.

Design and Manipulation 3D Imaging System by using Photodiode Grid

Introduction: Radiation imaging is one of the applicable methods in diagnostic medicine and nondestructive testing for industrial applications. In nondestructive 3D imaging, in addition to the radiation source, there is a requirement for a suitable detection system, data acquisition system, mechanical sections for moving objects, reconstruction algorithm and finally a computer for processing an...

Least Privilege Rendering in a 3D Web Browser

Emerging platforms such as Kinect, Epson Moverio, or Meta SpaceGlasses enable immersive experiences, where applications display content on multiple walls and multiple devices, detect objects in the world, and display content near those objects. App stores for these platforms enable users to run applications from third parties. Unfortunately, to display content properly near objects and on room ...

Efficient Online Segmentation for Sparse 3D Laser Scans

The ability to extract individual objects in the scene is key for a large number of autonomous navigation systems such as mobile robots or autonomous cars. Such systems navigating in dynamic environments need to be aware of objects that may change or move. In most perception cues, a pre-segmentation of the current image or laser scan into individual objects is the first processing step before a...

3D Modelling of Under Ground Burried Objects Based on Ground Penetration Radar

There is a growing demand for mapping and 3D modelling of buried objects such as pipelines, agricultural hetitage, landmines and other buried objects. Usually, large scale and high resolution maps from these objects are needed. Manually map generation and modeling of these objects are cost and time consuming and is dependent on lots of resources. Therefore, automating the subsurface mapping and...

Knowledge-based Object Detection in Laser Scanning Point Clouds

Object identification and object processing in 3D point clouds have always posed challenges in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. In practice, this process is highly dependent on human interpretation of the scene represented by the point cloud data, as well as the set of modeling tools available for use. Such modeling algorithms are data-driven and concentrate on specific features of the ob...
